Position: Casual Funeral Operative
Location: Shropshire & Surrounding Areas
Hours: Casual, as required (including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and occasional short notice)
Reports to: Funeral Director

Role Overview

As a Casual Funeral Operative, you will play a vital role in ensuring that every funeral conducted by Evans & Son is carried out with dignity, care, and professionalism. You will work closely with the Funeral Director and other team members to support families during a difficult time, ensuring their loved one’s farewell is carried out with the utmost respect.

Key Responsibilities

• Acting as part of the funeral team, assisting with funeral services.

• Bearing coffins with dignity and professionalism.

• Driving ceremonial vehicles, ensuring they are presented to the highest standard.

• Assisting with the care of the deceased at our premises.

• Supporting families and mourners with compassion, courtesy, and discretion.

• Maintaining a professional appearance at all times in uniform.

• Being available at short notice when required.

• On occasion, you may also be asked to participate in the out-of-hours rota, including evenings and weekends, to ensure families receive support whenever needed.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Smart, professional appearance.

• Ability to maintain discretion and compassion in sensitive situations.

• Physically able to undertake coffin bearing.

• Excellent timekeeping and reliability.

• A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Desirable:

• Full UK driving licence.

• Previous experience in the funeral industry.
